Devils Lake Fishing Report-August 5th-2019

Back on Devils Lake the last 3 days guiding and one thing is for sure, the future looks good here too! Just like we are seeing on Lake Sakakawea, Devils Lake seems to have an over abundance of small walleyes and tons of food for these walleyes to eat and continue to grow.
We are definitely coming into what I consider the dog days of walleyes, but the bite continues to amaze me. Plenty of eater size fish to be caught. You can catch them on pretty much whatever you like to do. Bobbers and leeches along with spinner and crawlers seem to be carrying the mail, but don’t t rule out leadcore and cranks. Most fish are ranging 14 to 17 inches. In my opinion these are the absolute perfect size fish!
Again, old roads, deeper rocks, mud and trees are all holding fish. Kinda like picking your lures you can pick what you like to fish right now and still catch fish.
I want to take a second and thank everyone who fished the 2nd Annual WWP tournament out of Minnewaukan this past weekend. I had the pleasure of working the scales and the microphone and had a great time doing so! If you haven’t fished this unique event of 2 Walleye, 2 White Bass and 2 Northern Pike you should do so. It’s an absolute blast with all sorts of other events scheduled for fun for everyone.
I still have a couple openings in August and a few more in September, so please email me if your wanting to book a trip on either Devils Lake or Sakakawea. We also have lodging available. Email me at mikepelusooutdoors@gmail.com
