A little wind, a little rain, a little heat, and a lot of walleyes were all in play this week on Devils Lake. This is sure shaping up to be an unbelievable late season.
Structure like rocks, roads, humps and definitely the deeper structure seems to be where some of the bigger fish are starting to stack up. Not out of the norm for Devils Lake this time of year.
Crank baits with leadcore will for sure be the presentation of choice. Jig raps, jigs and bobbers all seem to be catching fish also. I would anticipate minnows to start dominating also. The fish being caught are super healthy and there seems to be a good number of them.
With the amount of fish we are seeing in the lake right now, it is getting me pretty fired up for ice fishing. I think with the water levels down on the lake, it has definitely concentrated the fish. The lake continues to change with each passing year. We are slowly losing the timber these fish have lived in for so many years and the fish are going to start finding alternative structure.
Talking about Ice fishing it’s time to start thinking about booking your winter trips. We can handle groups big or small and we also have lodging to put a full guided and lodging package together for you.
