Devils Lake Ice Fishing Report-December 7th, 2022

A little late (sorry new phone) I was trying to get all my apps etc redownloaded. Took a little longer than I expected, but we are back up and running again and, look out! Fishing reports galore now again from Devils Lake.

Ice conditions are better than I expected. We are seeing on average, 7 to 14 inches all over the lake. There are still areas under 4 inches however, so please don’t take this report as gospel.

Fish are biting! Rest assured the fish are eating and that’s good for the prospecting anglers looking for Devils Lake gold. We are seeing plenty of traffic out sifting the ice for the next big hit. The perch are roaming around. Typically the old sloughs here early can be good. Don’t count out old shoreline structure to congregate the perch.

So far from what I have seen things are looking good! Some really nice fish are showing up and they are willing to bite. I know this will change m, but tungsten again for me is working well! A plain hook and a small minnow is working well also. The perch are 15 to 29 foot of water. Walleyes are shallower, just put yourself on some sort of structure before sunset or before sunrise to take advantage.

I do have some dates. Please text me or email me for a trip. Busy Guiding now. Way easier to text or email back.

I've seen a lot of things over my 40 plus years fishing the Missouri River. Yesterdays (May 6th) Big Muddy Tournament was one for both the record books and the memory bank. This spring has been a tough one. The fish were slow to arrive. Coupled with lots of them...
