Lake Sakakawea and Devils Lake Fishing Report-July 4th, 2021

The fishing right now is just as hot as the temps! Some things have changed a little and somethings have stayed the same.

Lake Sakakawea is in my mind absolutely unreal right now! Tons of fish in that 15 to 18 inch range and some really nice sized fish mixed in. Still seeing nice fish being caught up shallow with the right conditions, but overall, I’d say the average depth of most fish getting caught right now is 10 to 22 feet.

So what presentation is working best? For my boat it has been bouncers and a plain hook with a small chunk of crawler. Trying to maintain a speed of .9 to 1.0 mph is best. Still some current out there creating changes of speed and water temperature, so pay close attention to this. Average water temp is now hitting 70 degrees. If your seeing less than that you may want to relocate.

Devils Lake is all about go go go time now! Bouncers and spinners pulled 1.2 to 1.6 with crawlers is about as go to as it gets. Look for the structure like old roads, humps, points whatever it is and your going to find fish! Water temps are about the same on Devils Lake as they are on Lake Sakakawea.

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 4th of July! I have a few openings in August yet if your looking to get on the water.
