Lake Sakakawea and Missouri River Fishing Report-October 16th, 2021

It’s been a rough week weather wise. I did fish one day on Sakakawea and one day on the Missouri River near Bismarck.

I’ll start with Lake Sakakawea out of Indian Hills Resort. We had a ton of wind and our first cold snap of the season. We marked a ton of fish in the areas we were able to try and fish. With the 20-30 mph winds really hindered us from fishing where I wanted to fish.

We concentrated our efforts in 25 to 45 foot of water with jig raps along the west slides area. Again, we were above fish all day long and we had to work extremely hard to get them to react. We did manage some bites to salvage the day. I would anticipate the bite to fire back up.

I also managed a day down on the river south of Bismarck. Again, the wind was an issue. The water temps however are staring to drop and hopefully right behind this the fish will start snapping. We caught fish in all different types of structure. Swirly holes tight to shore being the best. Jigs and minnows being the presentation of choice!

It also comes with a heavy heart that we have lost an absolute legend in the walleye world this week. Good friend and fellow guide Pete Harsh left us to early. One thing is for sure, he’s holding onto a tiller handle somewhere catching walleyes! Rest In Peace my friend and we will see you again!

It’s also that time of year to sell my boat. Those of you that know me well know I’ve absolutely babied this boat and you will not find one! I’ll leave the details below.

2020 Ranger 620 FS. Ranger trailer with custom wheels. 250 HP Pro XS. 15 HP pro kicker EFI. 12″Lowrance in dash and 9″ Lowrance in bow. Minn Kota Ulterra 112lbs thrust. Mercury smart craft gauges. 6 rod holders with mounts. New batteries this summer. Very well taken care of. $78,500

Well, the good news is I actually got out in a boat a few times this week. The bad news was it wasn't that nice out. However, this next week's forecast is looking promising. I was hoping the fish had moved into the river better with the layoff. That did not happen...
