Here we go again! Just as I was getting into the swing of things, we get pounded by another major snow storm here in the Dakotas. Now instead of out searching for fish, I’m in a scramble to get the tracks on the side by side. I feel the tracks are gonna be a must this winter.

Fishing on Devils Lake was really good before this snow hit. I see we have an arctic blast on the way this weekend, so I’m guessing that alone will slow the fishing down a little. Travel onto the lakes without tracks will be slowing everyone down also.

This is nothing new for the guides. We are prepared and have all the proper equipment. It just makes our jobs a little harder is all. The good news before the snow, we had really good ice forming. With the added snow however expect some slush to show up in areas.

As far as the bite is concerned, we are catching fish on an assortment of presentations. For the walleyes, any type of spoon with rattles is working good. The perch were chomping tungsten with spikes and wax worms. Minnow heads were good for the larger perch.

My days are filling in fast. I do have a few random openings left so get ahold of me!
