Mid Week Fishing Report-May 11th, 2022

I’m going to use the term funky or weird to describe what’s happening on the river right now near or around Bismarck. Certain areas are absolutely void of fish, while others have a lot of fish. Problem is if there are a lot of fish they are in current like I have never fished before?

I’m not sure he this is due to the low water or lack of forage. Maybe it’s a bit if both? So for me this creates a double edged sword. Do you chase the good eater size fish to put in the well, or do you still try and target big fish. They are definitely not in the same areas.

The water has dropped some since the melt. It was clearing up nicely until the rains we received Monday. Lots of debris and dirty water again today (Wednesday) and that made pulling cranks extremely difficult. If we were able to keep the baits clean we caught fish. That wasn’t an easy task.

Lots of transition going on right now and I would expect lots to change here in the next few days. I’ll be on the water everyday so I’ll keep you updated on things.
