A little change of pace for me being back up on Devils Lake. I’m not sure why I’m e em going to say this, but the wind has corporates the last 3 days up here and so have the fish!
One of the cool parts of fishing this time of year anywhere for that matter is the lack of boat pressure. Hardly anyone out on the water leaving all the primo stuff pretty much to yourself. Another nice part is the fish tend to bulk up in the fall. So if conditions are right, like they have been the past few days, you can really have fun.
For me we have been switching back n forth from leadcore to jigs and minnows. Trying to replicate anything that looks like a baby white bass has been deadly. Water temps have cooled down so obviously we have slowed the presentation down considerably since just a couple weeks ago.
Old shoreline structure, and of course bridges and current areas are all producing. Seems like the fish bite in streaks and if you happen to be on the spot when this triggers it’s really good. I’m extremely encouraged about what the winter is going to bring is up here on Devils.
Speaking of that, things are beginning to trickle in for winter. If you are looking to get a fishing trip or two in, don’t hesitate to get ahold of me.
