Mid Week Fishing Report-September 21st, 2022

Ok, if someone has the controls for the fan you can dial it back a bit. I just spent the last 3 days at Devils Lake and now I’m pretty sure 60 plus of those hours were winds over 15 mph and as much as 30. Definitely wears on a guide.

Even though the wind blew, the one nice thing about Devils Lake this time of year, is you can usually find areas to tuck away from it, somewhat.

Jigs and minnows and jigs and crawlers, barely moved seemed to be the best. We couldn’t be very picky on where we wanted to fish, so it was anywhere out of the wind on some sort of structure.

I wanted to pull some crankbaits on some old shoreline and sunken roads, but we couldn’t even get to any of that stuff with the wind conditions. Now, as I’m writing this I’m packing up and headed over to Sakakawea for a few days. Unfortunately, it looks like more wind. The tough part about Sakakawea this time of year, is you are extremely limited when the blows. So we will see.

Another interesting scenario right now is how low the river near Bismarck is at the moment. I’m hoping the channel dredges itself out a little and some fish travel north. I’ll keep everyone posted on the river here as we go.
