Things have definitely turned for the better this week up here on Devils Lake. We are heading towards the end of the ice fishing guide season, so it’s been a breath of fresh air seeing the fish rebound a little here.
The perch are have turned on some and they are a tad easier to catch. The walleyes are still biting in short windows early morning or late evenings. If you can get some overcast the walleyes will bite better throughout the day. The sunny days the perch are biting better.
The perch are loving tungsten with spikes packed on! Stir up the bottom a little, bring it up and coffee hand shake it and pow! The walleyes are loving the buckshots with full minnows hooked in the back. I would anticipate these fish moving a little shallower here in the coming weeks.
I personally only have about a dozen trips left for the winter season. As soon as I’m done up here on Devils Lake for the winter, I’m headed back to my hometown of Bismarck, ND and I will begin my open water guiding on the Missouri River near Bismarck for some trophy spring walleyes. I do have two other guides on staff this spring so if you are looking for a chance at catching a PB or possibly a state record this will be the place to fish this spring! Get ahold of me asap to book your trip!
