Missouri River Fishing Report-April 27th, 2020

I’ve made a few comments on my social media pages this week that the walleyes are in spawn mode. They indeed are doing the deed, and I want to thank everyone for all the fish that have been released. I can’t stress enough how thankful I am to everyone who is doing their part in assuring a future of great fishing here in the Dakotas! Again, thank you!
So we still have some really nice fish showing up locally. We should see another week or so of some big girls hanging around. After the spawn is over we will experience what a lot of us river rats refer to as the male whack. These spunky fish (no pun intended) come with attitude and an aggressiveness that is simply wild! If you have a lack of confidence pulling cranks or pitching plastics, now will be the time to brush up on those skills.
Shortly after the spawn is over on the river, I pay close attention to the lylocs. Once they flower it seems as if these walleyes will switch over night to feeding on crawlers. Don’t ask me why, they just do!
Anyway, look for a great bite to continue here locally until the end of May. If you want to get out and enjoy email me at mikepelusooutdoors@gmail.com
