Missouri River Fishing Report-August 29th, 2018

I’m am super excited for this time of year!! We have so many options with hunting and fishing here in the North Dakota it gets frustrating sometimes when you have to pick on or the other. Well, with the high water here on the Missouri River near Bismarck the fish are already here. I won’t say these are huge fish but these are really good eating size fish! 14 to 16 inches seems to be the average with a pretty solid number of fish around. This isn’t the norm for this time of year but what the heck we will take an early jump on things here this fall! Normally we won’t see fish stating to show up near town until the end of September and sometimes not until mid October. I’m not sure what the Corp has in store for us as far as water this fall but if things remain as is and they don’t turn the valve off it will be an unreal fall! Like I put out earlier I’m offering a discounted Guide rate for the Missouri River and Lake Oahe starting September 1st until October 31st. If your venturing into our great state to chase waterfowl or upland game birds and want to mix the trip up a little this is your perfect opportunity to do so! Please feel free to contact me via text at 701-471-8649 or email me here on the website to book an evening trip or day trip. I’ll adjust rates accordingly to how long we fish and where we fish. It’s gonna be fun to feel these fiesty walleyes hitting a jig and minnow once again. There’s something so special about feeling these walleyes in the fall hitting jigs. I believe crankbaits, jig raps and Lindy rigs will also do well this fall on the river. I’ll be bringing you lots of river reports now until ice up so stay tuned. With high water just look for anything with reduced current and depth ranging from 7 to 15 foot.
