Missouri River Fishing Report- Nov. 22nd, 2020

I guess I lied! I said I was probably done with the open water fishing reports…but of course, the weather straightened out and I filled my 2020 rifle tag, and I have managed to get out a couple (few) more times here lately.

The water levels on the river have continued to drop. This has definitely moved the fish around a bit. It seams the fish are still relating to current seems along the main river channel no matter if you are fishing way south or near town. I have been hearing of some really big walleyes being caught near the ND/SD border. In fact, this week down by Mobridge they had a walleye that just missed the SD state record by only 2oz. Had that been caught in ND, it would have been a new state record. Guessing that fish easily could have been on his way back north? Also reported down there was a fish over 14 pounds. Still some giants in Oahe and I can’t wait to get clients in my boat this coming spring!

Anyway, fish are starting to show themselves closer to Bismarck/Mandan. Eckroth up to the Little Heart area is showing some strong signs of life. Jigs and minnows in this stretch have been best. The hazelton and Fort Rice area has still been ok. Seems like the better bite is further south into Lake Oahe. Fort Yates to Beaver Bay has been good. Again, right off the old river channel, or I should say the edges of the old river channel near or around bends are concentrating fish. Cranks and jigs are both working down south.

I know people are starting to think ice fishing and a few of you have already been out. I will be headed north this week to get an early ice thickness and fishing report for you guys. So stay tuned! Also, my website tweaks are coming along and I will have I it up and running here shortly. I think if your like me and you are a person who likes to keep tabs on the fishing and conditions, this new feature will be exciting for you!

I’m taking bookings now for both ice fishing trips and also spearing trips now. We have both fishing and lodging packages available. If your looking for something to take your mind off of everything going on in this world hit me up with an email! mikepelusooutdoors@gmail.com
