The last two days on both Lake Sakakawea and the Missouri River System we have had to battle Mother Nature, especially the wind.  We decided after yesterday’s trip up north that we would take refuge down below the Garrison Dam and fish this stretch of river. We started the day out in the spillway downstream. The fish were biting when we arrived! We had a pretty good morning pulling slow death and Lindy rigs on the new JT Customs Ambassador trolling rods. I’ve decided to use these rods as my bottom bouncer rods and I’m really liking the feel of these rods with the bottom bouncer combo. It was interesting to see how the fish changed when the weather changed. The wind came up, clouds moved in and the temps plummeted. My guess the pressure changed also and that most likely changed the fishes mood on us up in the spillway. We decided to make a move and headed up into the chutes to see what was going on. When we arrived there was about 6 boats both drifting downstream and also pulling crank baits up stream. Some of the salmon anglers have come down to try their luck. As we fished the chutes I noticed the fish were not exactly jumping in the boat here also. We had a couple fish hooked up bit we weee unable to get them to the boat. We made a choice to leave the chutes and head bavk downstream again to the spillway. We made a few more passes and hooked up on some more walleyes. Time was ticking away and we all decided with the wind and weather that it was time to head in and watch the Vikings game.
