Mid Week Lake Sakakawea Fishing Report-July 13th, 2022

The fishing has shifted a little bit up here on Sakakawea due to some storms, heavy winds, and some shifting in currents and water temp. Once you relocate the water temps in what I’m calling their comfort zone it’s game on!

These fish are so healthy in this lake right now it’s incredible. The population of 16 to 18 inch fish is really impressive. I think it’s a feeding frenzy at times and it’s why we are still able to catch these fish even with an over abundance of food for them to eat.

The depths are trending a little deeper now. These fish will continue to slide out deeper and deeper as the water warms. I’d say average depth where a majority of fish that are being caught are in the 14 to 18 foot depth range. Again, wind and water clarity can have them up shallower and or out deeper. Just stagger your drifts or pulls and watch your electronics closely.

Slow death or regular live bait hooks with a half crawler and a colored bead is working well. The propeller rigs and also spinners are working good on days. I kinda run a mix of rigs each day to start. Seems like you will notice one thing out performing the rest. I’m not the brightest bulb on the tree, but when one lure is working I’m fairly quick to adjust.

I have a few openings yet I would love to fill and have you join me in the boat. If you want a stress free day on the water get ahold of me and let’s make some memories. The fishing is really good!
