Well, now I kinda feel like my fishing reports are a broken record. My last report we were talking about early ice and things should be ramping up with our cooler temps we were getting. All that has been briefly put on hold. I think however my start date up at Devils Lake will still be around December 1st.
There has still been some really good open water fishing here locally around Bismarck/Mandan when the weather cooperates. I was able to take advantage of this and made her out on the Missouri River near Bismarck here to feel the best bite in the business, and that’s a thump on a jig. The fish in the river are extremely fat and healthy right now. I believe they have plenty of food with all the high water these last two seasons. It sounds like further south down around Mobridge has been nothing short of spectacular! The future is very bright for guiding the river once again starting early next spring.
So back to the frozen stuff. Certain areas to the north have some decent walkable ice. I will be headed up to the Devils Lake Region to bring my Dark House Spearing houses up and look for fishable areas. My ice fishing season is fast approaching so I want to make sure I’m ready! Don’t hesitate to book your angling and or spearing trips! We offer it all along with lodging and fishing combination packages. Groups of any size welcome!
