ND Fishing Report-Sept. 23rd, 2019

Rain, rain go away, come back another day. This fall so far has seen its fair share of moisture. Lake Oahe/river is high and dirty at the moment. Fishing was getting pretty good until it dirtied up here the past week.
Lake Sakakawea is showing signs of life right now. I’d say it’s better on eastern Sakakawea which is a bit different than the past, but that’s ok for a guy like me. It’s a lot less travel to get to the lake. Mid section is also decent but the fish are deep! 40 to 60 foot of water is where many of these fish are hanging out. The fish out east are hanging between 22 and 40.
Van Hook Arm up into the river is the head scratcher. Certain days it turns on and you can have a great day. Go back the next and its a Dead Sea? I’m still holding strong and believe the bite will turn on.
I do have two events and a bunch of guiding to do up there here in the next two weeks so I’ll be able to give you a really good idea on what’s happening and where.
I’m also hoping for our waters on the Missouri River near Bismarck will settle down here some. The fish are closing in and with the right conditions I feel it’s going to be a great fall bite, weather permitting.
As of right now I’m still taking bookings for open water trips, but don’t hesitate to get ahold of me if you want to secure some lodging and ice fishing dates on Devils Lake! We will chase perch, pike and walleyes. I will also have Darkhouses on both Sakakawea and Devils Lake this winter if your looking to try something different. Get ahold of me at mikepelusooutdoors@gmail.com to talk dates!
