ND Fishing Report-Sept. 28th,2020

As I relocate back to Lake Sakakawea from 3 days over at Devils Lake, I’m finally seeing the changes of fall. They are calling for cooler temps which should rev up the walleyes to start the feedbag.
I was pleasantly surprised with the fishing on Devils Lake. I actually only had one day to fish prior to the Casino Cup Championship. We spent most of the day fishing around the current areas with jigs. Nothing fancy and our activity for the most part was excellent. Tournament day however was a day of emptying our crank bait boxes. The bigger walleyes in Devils Lake, especially in the fall, love the deeper breaks with rock. We never boated a “kicker” fish, but we had a nice solid bag of 6 fish getting us an 11th place finish.
The summer due to Covid has been a weird one. I only fished 4 events this summer cracking the top 20 in 3 out of the 4. Even with all the worlds confusion, it was nice to have a little normal.
So what to expect here from now until freeze up? I would expect Devils Lake, Sakakawea and also Oahe to get better and better. We still need the water temps to drop some more to really get things fired up! I’ll continue to bring you fishing reports. Also if your thinking about booking an ice fishing adventure now is the time! Pick some dates to come join me up on Devils Lake! We can accommodate any size group and we have lodging and fishing packages available. Email me at mikepelusooutdoors@gmail.com
