I’m sad to say that my open water season is officially closed. It’s been an unreal fishing season! We have seen history being made right here on the Missouri River near Bismarck. A new state record walleye is in the books. I’ve been saying this all summer but I truly believe it’s gonna get broken again this coming spring! We saw a lot of fish in that 13.5 to 15 pound mark come to scales this season both right here on the river and also up on the Garrison Dam tailrace region.
This fall on the river showed signs of greatness. I wasn’t able to fish it like we did the fall before. I probably only got out a dozen times or so, but I did see some unreal quality in the fish. The last day I made it out I caught an 8.5 pounder that definitely hadn’t missed any suppers this summer. In fact, most of the fish I caught from the Stateline on up past Bismarck were really fat and healthy!
i know I put a post out here a couple weeks back talking about the upcoming ice fishing season. I want to remind folks I will be offering some guided dark house spear fishing this winter. This is a sport if you like to deer hunt, this is for you. It’s very similar to sitting in a deer stand waiting to see something. Also like deer hunting if your in a good area and you wait and put your time in there is a great chance you will see a 20 plus pounder. No gaurantees, but man what a rush!
So it may be a little bit before I really get going on my ice fishing reports but I will start as soon as I feel comfortable on the ice! Until that time it’s time for me to get my JT Custom Ice Rods all rigged and ready and do battle on the ice very soon! Stay tuned!
