If you have been following my reports this spring and summer. It’s no secret I’ve been fishing pretty much every day since March 13th. The unfortunate part since then, is I think the wind has blown just about as much as I have fished!
This week up on Sakakawea has been no exception. We have had to deal with some pretty violent wind and weather. The amazing part is the walleyes don’t seem to mind.
Fishing has been excellent overall. We have had to chase them around the lake a bit, but that has everything to do with the wind and currents.
A simple slow death and lindy rig approach with a half crawler has been deadly in water as shallow as 4 foot and some fish out as deep as 20. I’d say the bulk of the biters across all of Sakakawea right now are between 12 and 18 foot of water.
I do see a pretty decent warming trend coming. I can only imagine the fishing will get even better. Hard to believe it can get much better? But we will find out this week.
I don’t have any openings left here in the near future. I do have some openings in August! Please get ahold of me so you can get in on this. It’s been a ton of fun minus the winds. Maybe just maybe Mother Nature will take a break here soon!
