Lake Sakakawea Fishing Report-July 19th, 2026

Things just continue to impress me up here on Lake Sakakawea.  We have had days where it’s not fishing it’s catching.

Lots of fish and a lot of really nice fish.  We have released a countless amount of fish over 20 inches all the way up to 27 inches.  As you have probably seen I don’t post table pics very often.  The ones we try to keep are all under 20 inches. Perfect eater size walleyes.

If you are looking for those big fish just to catch and release they are way shallower than most people are fishing up here right now.  The bigger fish are under 10 fow and the majority of the keeper eater size are 10 to 20 fow.

Slow death with a half crawler is almost automatic right now.  Not only are we catching roughly over 50 plus a day walleyes.  We are mixing in bass, drum, catfish, pike and skip jacks.  The fish are definitely keeping me as the guide busy netting, untangling, baiting hooks and unhooking fish.

With these fish staying shallow things are just going to continue being good up here through August!

I have some August dates available if you want to try and get up and take advantage of some of the best catching I’ve ever seen on Sakakawea in my lifetime of well over 40 years of fishing up here!
