Safe to say that the open water season is over. With that being said lots of folks will begin venturing out onto the frozen stuff.
Like every year no ice is safe ice! I’m already hearing and seeing reports of people getting wet. Please use extreme caution when heading out onto early ice.
As for what I’m seeing and hearing for ice fishing reports? For me I haven’t been out yet. I will however start to explore a little here in the coming weeks.
Some fish are being caught on some of the smaller lakes more north and east of Bismarck. I’m also hearing of a few fish being caught on a couple of the usual early ice spots like Audubon, New John’s, and Sweetbriar.
Of course on those lakes it’s more on the smaller areas and bays of the lakes. Definitely still early and we are limited yet as to where we can get out.
I will be able to give you better reports in the coming weeks as I will start fishing some.
I’m also getting asked with my health setback and my new hockey job if I’ll be guiding. The answer is yes! I will be doing the same for spring, summer, and fall. I will also be offering spear shack rentals up on Sakakawea.
If you are planning on a trip with me this spring and summer don’t wait until the last minute to book. Things are already starting to fill up. So get ahold of me so I can find you some dates!
