Lake Sakakawea Fishing Report-July3rd, 2022

My word is the fishing on fire up here on Sakakawea. I’m almost at the cringing point seeing the fish I’m seeing being cleaned on a daily basis. On days, it’s truly remarkable. I do wish the Game and Fish would drop the daily limit to 4 walleyes a day but give an extra two on the possession making it 12. Just my opinion.

Things do get hot and cold up here though depending on the weather, wind, and water temps. When those things change the fishing can be difficult. When things are good, omg look out!

A mix of slow death, PK prop rigs, and a plain old live bait rig with crawlers is hard to beat. The fish are still really shallow on days depending on conditions, but average depth to catch them in seems to be 10 to 18 foot of water.

I anticipate things remaining very hot up here for a long time! I did have 3 consecutive dates just open up here in July. The 14-16th are now available out of Indian Hills Resort if you are interested! Get ahold of me asap if interested!
