Lake Sakakawea Fishing Report-September 28th, 2018

Up and down up and down up and down for both the fishing and how you have to fish for these early fall Lake Sakakawea Walleyes. They are in a mood right now to say the least. One day they are on the chow and the next day they don’t seem to want to react to anything, than all the sudden they turn on. I have noticed these fish must really be putting the feed bag on at night under the full moon phase because 5 out of the last 6 days on the water I catch a fish on my first cast. We seem to have a good flurry right away and then the grind begins. But if you stay at it by the end of the day you have one hell of a catch of fish. Jig raps, shiver minnows in shades of white seem to be the most productive on a lot of the days.  We have had some really good days on the parrot color and the fire tiger. Another sleeper way to trigger them to bite us pulling 3 ways with stick baits. We have found over the last week or so switching back and forth in the same areas seems to get the fish to go again. Once one presentation slows we switch over for a bit and so on. We have also seen a lot of young of the year white bass that these walleyes are feasting on. Probably the shades of white jig raps andbthe natural color stick baits have been working extremely well. I anticipate the bite to get better and better! I have 3 trips coming up next week so I’ll have more reports to follow. Also I will be on the river locally out of Bismarck here as well with reports. Still taking bookings up until October 31st. Not much has changed since last week as far as the river near Bismarck is concerned.  I was hoping it would have made a little more progress.   It's definitely a weird ice season out there.  Normally the river freezes in big chunks.  This winter...
