Devils Lake Fishing Report- January 15th, 2023

Things kind of have remained the same here in all across North Dakota. The weather has been pretty darn considering. I’m a little nervous about it, I’m guessing we will pay dearly for it eventually.

Lake access and snow are still causing us headaches. On the warmer days the slush pops up and can make it miserable. Up here on Devils Lake, Woodland Resort, East Bay, and casino have plowed roads. Other than that, tracks are an absolute must!

Fishing for the most part has been ok. Definitely not as good as it was, but still overall decent for this time of year. I’m still telling everyone to fish perch on the sunny days, and the walleyes on the overcast days for better results.

No openings left here in January but I do have a few in February if you think you want to get out on the ice. We are definitely equipped for it! I’m also taking bookings for that early spring bite on the Missouri River near Bismarck.

I've seen a lot of things over my 40 plus years fishing the Missouri River. Yesterdays (May 6th) Big Muddy Tournament was one for both the record books and the memory bank. This spring has been a tough one. The fish were slow to arrive. Coupled with lots of them...
