Mid Week Fishing Report-March 9th, 2022

My time up here on Devils Lake is numbered for the ice fishing season. I only have a half dozen days left for the 2022 ice fishing season. Most guides get a break from guiding, but I do not!
I’ll be headed back to my hometown of Bismarck North Dakota. I will begin my open water guiding as early as the 25th of March, but its full go April 1st.
For those of you who may not know, Bismarck and the Missouri River has been known to kick out gigantic walleyes the past few years. In fact, the state record has been broken 2 times legally, and the other was disqualified due to being foul hooked. Another major difference between the Missouri River than let’s say the Rainy River, is North Dakota never closes. You can fish and keep walleyes here year round.
For me I’ll be looking to beat my personal best, an almost 35 inch spawned out beast. I wish I would have caught her a day or two earlier. She would have had a good chance of making a push at the State Record. I do anticipate seeing some more of these true giants again this spring.
If you are looking for a completely different experience than any other river or fishing you have tried, Bismarck, ND on the Big Muddy is the place to come!
