If Lake Sakakawea was a movie, I think we could call it Groundhogs Day. Nothing has changed really with the mood of the fish. They are still eating!
They are a bit more scattered as far as depth is concerned. Some days it just doesn’t matter, but the bulk of the biters are in 12 to 20 foot of water. Most of my fish we we catching we are catching on some sort of slow death version with a bead and a chunk of crawler.
Hint….if you are fishing the DWC coming up this weekend, don’t forget the water is still rising and the water temps are holding pretty steady. Lots of fresh vegetation being flooded. This would set up for a big time bay bite somewhere 😉
I’m kinda sad, but I’m moving operations back over to Devils Lake for a couple of weeks. I will continue to report from there, and it sounds like the bite is solid. I don’t anticipate Lake Sakakawea slowing down anytime soon.
I have maybe a couple openings left in August for Sakakawea and a few September openings at Devils Lake, so if you are looking to go fishing yet, get ahold of me!
