Missouri River Fishing Report-October 4th, 2026

Just like the weather beacon in Bismarck when it’s green.  No change foreseen at the moment on the river near Bismarck.

Are there fish being caught?  Yes!  If you are willing to travel a little and get your grinder gear on.  Patience is a virtue right now to say the least.

The water is extremely low and relatively warm for this time of year.  We really need a good solid frost to snap things into fall mode.

Best part is everyday that passes it should just get better and better.  Especially when the water finally cools down a bit.

Most of the fish being caught are still out in the current.  Cranks have done most of the heavy lifting the past two weeks, but we are getting a few on the jigs as well.  The further south you go on the river the better.

I have some openings coming up so if you are tough enough, get ahold of me!

The reason I don't love to guide in September is already showing itself a little.  The fish, especially on Sakakawea we become extremely difficult to catch.  They do this every September for some reason.   I have my philosophies on it, but it's too long...
