ND Fishing Report-June 1st, 2025

What a difference a little wind makes.  We haven’t had much wind up here on Devils Lake, but the little bit we have gotten the past 7 days has made a drastic improvement in the fishes moods.

I definitely won’t say it’s rockstar status yet, but at times it’s showing signs of it!  We are mixing up things going between bobbers, casting, and pitching jigs with plastics.

The fish are super healthy and full of food.  I believe this has been making them want to eat/bite a little more difficult.  Especially the walleyes.  The pike and white bass have been on a tear and those are super fun to catch also.

I would anticipate things continuing to get better as the days go by and the water continues to warm and dirty up a bit.

The river near Bismarck is still producing good catches and lake Sakakawea west to east is also kicking out good catches as well.

I don’t have many openings until August and September.  So if you are looking to fish those will be the months I can get you in yet on Sakakawea and Devils Lake.  Of course I’ll be guiding the river near Bismarck from October 1st until freeze up.  It’s gonna be an amazing fall again so don’t miss out on that! Get ahold of me!

Holy crap the river is open!  Not the entire river, but basically Bismarck north is wide open.  As you may expect I was one of the early birds to get out on the water.  Definitely feels good to know spring open water fishing is officially here. ...

Not much has changed since last week as far as the river near Bismarck is concerned.  I was hoping it would have made a little more progress.   It's definitely a weird ice season out there.  Normally the river freezes in big chunks.  This winter...
