Gotta give a shout out to the ND Game and Fish! For a guide like myself to be able to guide the Missouri River, Devils Lake and now Sakakawea and to have the fishing we do, all I can say is we are spoiled.

Fishing on all 3 of these bodies of water remains out of control incredible. This week personally, I’ve had the blessing to fish both Devils Lake and Sakakawea.

Of course I get asked which one is better? Not gonna get into that argument definitely no right answer to that question. I always say, it depends on the time of year.

Of course this year, it honestly doesn’t seem to matter. Biggest thing is get out and go fishing! Don’t forget to take the kiddos along.

Depths seem to change by day and conditions. Sakakawea average starting point would be 12 to 18 foot for numbers of fish. Devils right now it mostly depends on the wind conditions. Structure and weeds.

Tactics? Honestly, anything you like to fish with will probably catch fish right now.

The good news is we are finally in full swing this spring. The bad news is the weather really hasn't been all that great. Lots of wind making it difficult. When the weather permits however it seems the fish are willing and able. For my guide business I've been trying...
