With the goofy spring and now early summer weather. The fishing on Devils has been a little up and down also. I have been on the water pretty much everyday since March 15th. I have never seen such tough weather. Especially the wind.
I honestly can’t think of maybe just a few days since the 15th that I would consider nice fishing weather. I think that has really hindered the fishing so far. Now don’t get me wrong, the fishing has been pretty good so far. But I can’t imagine how good it could have been if we could get some consistent weather.
I just left Devils Lake and I am now on Sakakawea. So this will be my last up close and personal Devils Lake report. I’ll still report what my guide buddies are seeing.
Of course when I left the bite was just getting going! Good numbers and extremely healthy looking fish in Devils Lake right now. The fish are finally setting up on the more traditional type spots.
Bobbers, spinners and casting are all producing fish right now. If weather permits, you can fish all 3 of these techniques with success. It should just continue to get better and better.
I don’t have any openings until August, but being the summer has been a few weeks behind this year, August is gonna be a great month on both Sakakawea and Devils Lake! Get ahold of me to reserve your days and let’s go catch Sikorsky fish!
