I’m not sure how my days just keep ticking away and I can’t seem to remember what day it is? Sorry about the delay on this this fishing report. When guiding is this busy, I guess I need to set an alarm. It kinda feels like groundhogs day.
The conditions as far as the ice is concerned has definitely changed. This cold snap is putting some ice down and fast. As the ice grows the fishing slows unfortunately. Hopefully after this violet change of weather settles down, so will the fishing.
It’s more of a one day you get them, the next maybe not. Seems like most days we are seeing plenty of fish most days, just not a lot of biters. My gut feeling is the fish have plenty to eat. No competition to find food. It’s easy pickings out there.
Mornings have been best for the walleyes. Nothing fancy, buckshots and minnow heads are doing most of the heavy lifting. Perch seem to be a little more unpredictable. If you find that magic stick, you’ll catch a bunch. If you are off a coffee tables length, you may not even mark any. Seems like minnow heads on small spoons are best for them right now also.
The picture on this fishing report was caught on an icefishingcentral.net walleye slayer rod. We are having fun with these new rods a d we are working on some new stuff as well. Stay tuned!
