Lake Sakakawea Fishing Report-June 26th, 2022

Once again the wind seems to be giving us problems up here in North Dakota. It seems like you get at least one in 3 days where the winds are strong enough to keep you off the water. When you can get on the water and things are right the bite is on!

One thing I have learned these last two weeks up here on Sakakawea is make sure you have bait and different types of bait. One day crawlers work great, the next day minnows and or leeches. Kinda goofy, but the water temps keep changing and we have pretty good flows coming in.

The fish are definitely moving with the water temps and water clarity. Best part right now, the fish are healthy and a majority of them are the perfect keepers. Don’t get complacent, because any hook set could be a big one!

Fish (biters) are in 10 to 18 foot of water for the most part. Lindy rigs and or slow death on a bouncer working great! You can still catch some nice fish pitching jigs up shallower. If you are pulling slow death or lindys watch your speed. There is plenty of current again this year.

I have some opening in August and I’m just beginning to book my Fall River trips on the river near Bismarck. Get ahold of me!

Holy crap the river is open!  Not the entire river, but basically Bismarck north is wide open.  As you may expect I was one of the early birds to get out on the water.  Definitely feels good to know spring open water fishing is officially here. ...

Not much has changed since last week as far as the river near Bismarck is concerned.  I was hoping it would have made a little more progress.   It's definitely a weird ice season out there.  Normally the river freezes in big chunks.  This winter...
