North Dakota (DL) Fishing Report-August 18th, 2024

Last report from Devils Lake until ice fishing season here. I’ll be headed back to Sakakawea for the last little bit of August and into September. After that it will be river time!

Well, the bug hatch we had last week is finally wearing off. The fish have definitely responded to it and the bite has picked up tremendously. Still have to sort through a ton of fish to find your quality eaters.

Nothing fancy for me. My go to slow death with a chunk of crawler has been best! Prop rigs and spinners are also doing good.

Fish are still relating to the mud adjacent to the structure like humps, points, and old shorelines. Depth hasn’t been a huge factor. Seems like you can get them in super shallow all the way out to 20 plus if you want.

I’m still taking bookings for October on the river near Bismarck. It’s gonna be a great fall season. Like I’ve told everyone who has booked already, if it’s an 1/8 as good as last fall it will be unreal!

We are also taking bookings for the upcoming ice fishing season up on Devils Lake. We have openings as of now but don’t wait too long if you are wanting to join us. No group is too big or too small.

Holy crap the river is open!  Not the entire river, but basically Bismarck north is wide open.  As you may expect I was one of the early birds to get out on the water.  Definitely feels good to know spring open water fishing is officially here. ...
