I decided to take the day off from fishing and did a drive to check on some ice conditions. I picked 3 popular areas today to check on for you. It is my recommendation you use extreme caution. All the areas I checked today had as much as 7 inches to open water. So be careful! Here is what I found on Devils, New John’s, and Audubon in the areas of these lakes I checked.

New John’s– Still lots of open spots with some decent ice available. I found up to 7 inches but many spots were less or open. Lots of open water by Heckers, East and West Park lakes.

Audubon– Nelson Bay had 6 inches on average but lots of this lake remains open.

Devils Lake– Again, depends on where you are going but some walkable ice around Minnewaukan. Pelican is the same. The north lakes like Irving and Alice have ice up to 7 inches but still open areas.
